Valentine's Day is a huge time for businesses. For shoppers, it's about love and gifts. For your business, it’s a month of growth. So I hope your shelves are stocked and your promos are ready. Note: You get to play a special role this month. Your customers trust you to help them show love to their special people with every order they place. Every package you send isn't just a product - it's a message of love. When you get this right, customers remember you forever.

Also, more importantly, Valentine’s Day doesn’t signify the end of sales for the month. There are still many opportunities to grow your sales even after the big day - late Valentine’s Day gifts, post-Valentine’s Day clearance sales and even early Easter and Ramadan campaigns. So don’t limit yourself to just the day itself. Go out there and put your business in the face of everyone!

The important tools your business needs right now

As a business owner myself, tools are my best friends. I’m currently obsessed with one - Google's Notebook LM. Upload any document, and this AI tool turns it into a quick summary or even a podcast-style conversation. It's perfect for understanding long content in minutes.

So, I’d like to share some that are great for businesses, that you should check out.

• For Marketing - Canva: Because let's face it - we eat with our eyes first. The same goes for shopping. Canva helps you create beautiful social media posts and catalogs, even if you've never designed anything before. Check it out here.

Speaking of websites…

It matters, more than you think

It doesn’t end at just having one. It matters that you have a great website.

Recently, a friend sent a website link to me and asked me to check it out. I opened it and 5 things caught my eye immediately:

1. I was instantly confused and stressed.

2. There was simply no way to shop from the website.

3. It was Mama Tega’s website.

4. No website should look like that in 2025.

5. Even if it’s inactive, IT SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE THAT.

If you’re curious about what it looks like, here’s a screenshot.

Now, it’s possible everyone knows Mama Tega and has probably bought from them before. It’s one of the biggest cosmetics stores in Lagos. But the one time someone wanted to shop from their website, they couldn’t.

Before you say the person could’ve easily gone to Instagram, remember that not everyone wants to have a back-and-forth that will take at least 20 minutes of their time. More than that, the website doesn’t inspire enough confidence to do more than just close it and find another place to shop from.

Here's the thing - in 2025, your customers should be able to buy from you ANYWHERE, anytime. Every time someone leaves your website frustrated, that's money walking away.

The moral of this story? It’s simple; your website matters more than you think. It’s a tool for business growth, and you need to get the best.
