ShowUp #1: Thank You for 2024 and Welcome to 2025! 🎉

Happy New Year!

This time last year, everyone was going “no gree for anybody”. It seemed like a joke. I mean, when did Nigerians start agreeing on things? The mantra was literally “no gree for anybody”, so how…how were we agreeing on this? Hmm. 🧐

While I was battling with the semantics, everyone else had agreed to “no gree for anybody”. I finally came around. English isn’t that deep anyway, and it was a lovely mantra, honestly. It created the drive and purpose everyone needed for the year. And if there was ever a set of people that bodied this mantra to a T, it was Nigerian business owners.

2024 moved like it wanted to destroy businesses. Half the time, it was hard to fathom the fuel prices we were seeing, delivery fees shot up to the roof and customers started running away. If you kept count, how many times did the National Grid collapse? The game entered the extra-hard mode with no warning.

But you see that mantra “no gree for anybody”? It was evident in the way business owners tackled the year. It’s brought you this far, to where you are in 2025. Congratulations, and Happy New Year!

This year, the culture is back!

I mentioned that January started with a bang at Bumpa. The story I shared above drove people to sign up and create their Bumpa accounts, and it didn’t end there.

We wrapped up 2024 in a way that ensured we’d be recharged for 2025! The Bumpa team came together to unwind at our End of Year retreat and the Bumpa Gala and we laughed, danced, celebrated milestones, and reflected on how far we’ve come. Can I just say…if you don’t have the stamina for it, don’t ever take on a Bumpa team member in a dance competition!
